Processing Pomegranate

Pomegranate has gained a lot of interest and fame in the recent years for its nutrition value. Packed with juice, color, and anti-oxidants, the fruit can be extremely healthy, make any dish look a lot more interesting and best of all, they are small and fun to eat for kids and adults alike.

But, at the same time, Pomegranate can be a bit intimidating when it comes to getting the little fruit bits out of the casing without making a big giant mess. There are several ways that you can remove the seeds from the casing, but here is one simple and mess-free way to do it.

Cut the Pomegranate into half right in the center and then cut each half into 2 or 3 piece length wise. Fill a large bowl with cool water about half way to the brim.  Now place the pomegranate piece, peel side up, inside the water and make sure its full immersed. Now push the peel inwards and wriggle out the fruit pieces, like show in the image below.

There you go, a mess-free and quick way to process Pomegranate. Now you do not have an excuse to avoid the complex looking fruit and start using it as a great topper in so many different dishes like salsa, fruit salads, desserts, salads, and even some pizza!
