Naan the no messy way

Naan is a delicacy cherished by most of us. But making it from home defrinelty requires quiet a bit of  “TIME” factor.  While amazing results of homemade, from scratch Naan are tricky to achieve here is an MTS recipe for “No failure Naan recipe.  This nan recipe takes 10 minutes to make 20 Naan. Now you can commit to bringing naans to a party without having to even purchase flour or worry about kneading and baking it :).

Makes: 10
Pots & Pans: Oven or a heave bottom pan

Ingredients
6 New York style pita breads (DO NOT use regular pita bread
)
2 Tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
Substitute: Butter
2 tsps kalonji (also called as Nigella seeds or Onion seeds)
2 tsps kasoori methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
2 tsps garlic paste* or fine chopped garlic

How to make
Microwave covered in a bowl ghee, kalonji , kasoori methi, garlic paste until all these spices are completely incorporated in ghee for 1 minutes. Use the back of a spoon to crush the spices and blend. You could do this on a stove top too.
Oven method: Spread this mixture on the pita and warm it in 350 (375 in case of higher elevation) on a cookie sheet in a single layer for a 3-4 of minutes until the bread gets soft and pliable and you can smell the spices. Cooking time will vary for each oven. Serve warm.
Stove top method: Warm up a heavy pan or griddle on medium heat. Place the NY style pita on the pan and in 10 seconds spread the ghee mixture. Press slightly on all parts of the pita with a wide spatula as shown in the picture. Flip the bread and let it cook for 20 seconds on the other side.

Tips, tricks and alternatives
In case, you are preparing ahead for a party, then warm it oven for the half time required for cooking to completion (for it to be half done). Wrap the half done nans in aluminum foil and keep it in a warm oven (200) on the top most rack until serving time.
This nan is ideal to take while on trip. Mix ghee, kalonji, kasthoori methi, garlic paste in a microwave safe bowl and warm it when when necessary. Apply this mixture to the pita an warm it in the microwave of your hotel. If you are camping then use a stove to warm the nan and enjoy it with ready made side dishes available in most grocery stores. The NY style pita is soft that toddlers will not have a problem chewing them when cut into small pieces.
* Available in the Indian grocery stores or stores that sell ethnic spices.
