Quick Fruit Dessert / Breakfast

Fruit is such an essential part of our diets. Most kids like fruit, but there are days when we need do a little bit of coaxing to get them to eat enough fruit for the day. This recipe is a very quick way to present fruit and make it a great tasting dessert or even makes an awesome breakfast meal. Be sure to read the serving ideas.

Bananas and Brown sugar

Kind of Food: Dessert/ Snack/ Breakfast
How long: 5 min or less
1 cup
Pots & Pans:
Shallow Pan

1 Banana, ripe Рsliced into 1/4 inch  thickness
1 Tbsp dark brown sugar ( or light brown sugar)
1 Tbsp Butter

How to make
Heat a pan on medium heat. While the pan is heating, slice your bananas. Add the butter to the pan. After the butter melts add the bananas and give it a quick toss. Sprinkle the brown sugar and give it another toss till the sugar melts and coats the bananas. It should only take about 30 secs to a minute.  Transfer the bananas to a plate and serve warm.

Serving Ideas
1. Top bananas with berries or other fruits
2. Top the fruit with low fat yogurt and sprinkle some nuts or granola – Makes a great breakfast
3. Top the fruit on to some French Toast for a great breakfast
4. Place fruit in a parfait glass, top with ice cream or sweetened yogurt, sprinkle with nuts / granola / chocolate syrup – make a great dessert !

Tips, Tricks and Alternatives
The technique of cooking fruit with a little butter and sugar works well with most fruits, like apples, berries, pears. Avoid juicy fruits like oranges and pineapple, but you can combine them on top of the buttered fruit.
